It supplies item data, assigns areas, captures quantities and supports checks. A WMS typically controls ongoing warehouse processes such as locations, orders, replenishment and movements. The systems may exchange data, but their core responsibilities differ.<\/p>\n<p>Describe every requirement as a specific process. \u201cDigitise the warehouse\u201d is too broad. \u201cPrepare counting areas, capture stock, review variances and export a result file\u201d can be tested and accepted. WMS functions that are not required should not be assumed or recreated artificially.<\/p>\n<p>Add a start point, output and leading system to every process. A data import might begin with an approved master-data file and end with a documented import report. Result transfer begins with verified quantities and ends with an accepted output file.
